In case this isn't well known:
In vim you can press 'v' to get to visual mode, highlight the text you
want to indent, and then press '=' to get the proper indentation
automatically.

I always use the vim defaults - which is 8 space for a tab. The orignal author
didn't use tabs - its all spaces. I've been changing the tabbing as I get to
functions.
